The renowned "Rally" sport divers crafted by Seiko in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s remain held in high esteem, representing some of the most memorable models produced by the company. Born from the spirited rivalry between Seiko's Suwa and Daini divisions, these watches are celebrated for their vibrant, colorful dials, distinctive checkered bezels, and their commanding, robust cases. Today, collectors eagerly seek out these "Rally" models, with Seiko drawing inspiration from the original designs to create newer versions that pay homage to their iconic predecessors.
Especially notable among the reissued "Rally" timepieces from the late 1990s is the (SBSS) 7S36 Rally diver series. Preceding the surge in vintage watch collecting trends, Seiko reintroduced several of its iconic sports divers from the past. These models, exemplified by the 7S36-0080, hold their own vintage charm and carry significant value among collectors.
A faithful tribute to the original Ref.5126-8130, the case exhibits subtle contouring, housing a captivating sunburst blue dial adorned with luminous markers accented by striking orange tips. Complementing this aesthetic, the hour and minute hands echo the design language and feature a vivid orange seconds hand that gracefully stands out against the dial's overall composition. Retaining the essence of the 1969 original while incorporating subtle adjustments underscores the timeless and enduring aesthetics of the design.
Condition:
Overall this watch is in excellent condition.
The dial, hands and bezel are in perfect condition and the mineral glass is scratch free.
The case has some light surface scratches from normal wear. The case back engraving is strong and clear.
The bracelet is full length, in excellent condition. It should fit wrists up to 8in.
The movement has been cleaned by our watchmaker and is in excellent working condition.
