1976 Heuer Montreal PVD 110.501N

Rare & beautiful PVD cased version

$4000.00

Since 1967, the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal has been part of the Formula One World Championship. In the early 1970s, Heuer named the newly developed chronograph after this city to emphasize the brand's close association with racing. The Heuer Montreal 110.503 was introduced in 1972. It was visually very different from other Heuer chronographs. The connection to racing and the relatively short production period of the MK1 version (from 1972 to 1976) makes this chronograph a first-class collector's watch.

The reference 110.501N was launched in 1976 and discontinued after just one year. It has very stealthy look with its black dial and black chrono registers, the only splash of colour being the red pulsations scale track. The lume in the hands matches the hour markers; both having a rich vanilla hue.

The Montreal is powered by the manual wind movement Caliber 12. The winding crown is at 9 o'clock, as it is usual with the legendary calibers 11 and 12. In addition to the beautiful dial layout, the case size makes the Montreal even more attractive. The Montreal's 42mm case fits perfectly on any wrist and is very comfortable to wear. The watch is accompanied by high quality, period correct, black “racing” strap and matching Heuer buckle.

TAG Heuer has made new releases of Monaco, Silvestone, Monza and Autavia. But there is no reedition of the Montreal, making it even more attractive to collectors.  Visually similar to the more expensive Monza, but with a larger case and lower price point. A compelling value proposition of the Heuer collector.

Condition:

Overall the watch is in excellent and original condition. The dial and luminous material are immaculate. Original fluted pushers and a signed crown.  The PVD coating on the case is fully intact with only some very light surface scuffs visible, there are no deep scratches, indentations or wearing.  The case-back has some surface scratches.

The movement has just been serviced by our in-house watchmaker and is keeping time accurately for a 50 year old timepiece with an amplitude of 258 and gaining only 1 second per day. The chronograph starts, stops and resets crisply. The movement comes with our 12 month guarantee.
