Introduced by Heuer in 1963, the Carrera quickly became one of the most iconic vintage Heuer chronograph models. The Carrera's design has evolved significantly over the years, reflecting the styles and trends of each era. Starting in the 1960s with the reference 2447, the Carrera showcased a classic round case with the crown and pushers on the right side. By the 1970s, the brand embraced more adventurous styles, including tonneau-shaped cases with left-hand crown orientation.

Heuer Carrera is a legendary racing chronograph designed for racing drivers and sports car enthusiasts, which is why it is so coveted by all motorsport fans. The Carrera got its name (in 1963) from the legendary cross-isthmus road race in Mexico, known as La Carrera Panamericana.

This particular Carrera has the reference 1553N, where the letter N (noire) stands for the dark blue dial.  The blue dial has a satin, almost-metallic finish, with a horizontal striation across the dial that shows off various shades of blue under different light.

The striking blue dial with its silver horizontal bar — featuring the Carrera inscription — is referred to by collectors as the "Keyhole Dial".

The automatic Carrera stands out as one of the finest vintage watches for daily wear, with its 38mm cushion case offering a comfortable, lightweight fit that effortlessly conforms to the wrist.

The left-hand crown orientation is a nod to Heuer's commitment to developing one of the first automatic chronograph movements, the caliber 11, in 1969, in collaboration with Breitling, Dubois Dépraz, and Hamilton-Buren. The first two digits of the reference reveal the caliber of the chronograph. This watch is powered by the Heuer automatic caliber 15 with date, 30-minute counter and small seconds at 10 o'clock.

This watch has been fitted on one of our custom navy racing straps to complement the striking blue dial, complete with Heuer buckle.
