1972 Heuer Montreal 110.503B Blue Dial Cal.12

Since 1967, the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal has been part of the Formula One World Championship. In the early 1970s, Heuer named the newly developed chronograph after this city to emphasize the brand's close association with racing. The Heuer Montreal 110.503 was introduced in 1972. It was visually very different from other Heuer chronographs. The connection to racing and the relatively short production period of the MK1 version (from 1972 to 1976) makes this chronograph a first-class collector's watch.

The Montreal is powered by the manual wind movement Caliber 12. The winding crown is at 9 o'clock, as it is usual with the legendary calibers 11 and 12. In addition to the beautiful dial layout, the case size makes the Montreal even more attractive. The Montreal's 42mm case fits perfectly on any wrist and is very comfortable to wear. The watch is accompanied by high quality, period correct, navy blue “racing” strap and matching Heuer buckle.

TAG Heuer has made new releases of Monaco, Silvestone, Monza and Autavia. But there is no reedition of the Montreal, making it even more attractive to collectors.

Condition

The dial is perfect with an even blue color throughout. The luminous material on the dial in intact and has a creamy patina and matches that on the hands. Original fluted pushers and a signed crown.  The case has been recently restored to its original factory sunburst finish and is free from any scratches and indentations.  The serial and model numbers are still clearly visible between the lugs, which is rare for this model due to their placement.

The movement has been checked by our in-house watchmaker and is keeping timing accurately for a 50 year old timepiece (+7sec/2700).  The chronograph starts, stops and resets crisply.
