This 1970s Lanco Automatic (Ref. 53009) is a quintessential example of "Space Age" design, blending bold geometry with the reliable Swiss mechanics that defined the brand during its era within the SSIH group (alongside Omega and Tissot). This particular example retains the sharp factory lines of its brushed case and an unblemished dial, making it a standout choice for collectors of 1970s "funky" Swiss steel.

The Reference 53009 is recognizable by its stainless steel "C-shape" case.  The dial features a striking brushed metallic finish. The applied block indices and chunky baton hands are treated with Tritium, providing a high-contrast, utilitarian look.

This Lanco is powered by a robust Swiss (Tissot-derived) automatic calibre 784-2 movement, shared with Tissot’s legendary PR-516 series. It features a beat rate of 18,000 BPH and a shock-protection system (Incabloc), designed for daily reliability. The "Semi-Quickset" Date: The 784-2 utilizes a period-correct date setting method—advancing the time between 21:00 and 24:00 (9 PM and Midnight) to quickly cycle the calendar wheel.

The case measures 35mm (excluding crown) and lug to lug of approximately 40mm.

The watch comes with a funky, 1970s Invicta ‘Swiss’ bracelet, suitable for wrists up to 7.5in.
