1970 Omega Speedmaster Professional Mark II ref 145.014

Lovely condition, beautifully aged lume!

$2900.00

The year 1969 was a major milestone for Omega, largely due to the part the Speedmaster played in the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Interestingly, that same year, Omega decided to take the Speedmaster in a decidedly different direction with the Mark II. It was phased out just three years later in 1972, when the Mark III was introduced.

The Mark II has the DNA of the classic Speedmaster Professional in a thicker, funkier package, which is why many love it. Omega moved the tachymeter bezel to the inside of the crystal and used a different, thicker case with hooded-style lugs, but the overall look is pretty similar thanks to the white-on-black dial. Inside beats the manually wound 861 movement that officially became the movement for all Speedmaster Professionals starting in 1969's ref 145.022, the same year this model debuted.

Condition:

This Speedmaster Mark II is in overall excellent condition. The dial is perfect and the hands are original. The lume on the hands and dial have developed a lovely honely colored patina. The case is strong and unpolished with only one minor scratch. The caseback engraving is clear with some minor surface scratches. The bracelet is in very good condition with only slight stretch.

The glass has been just replaced with a genuine Omega one and as such is clear and scratch free.

On the Timegrapher the movement is running well for vintage watch, losing only about 2 seconds a day with an amplitude of 305.
