The Design & Heritage
The Reference 1163 GMT Mark 1 is the definitive pilot’s watch from Heuer’s golden age. This early execution is distinguished by its use of the Calibre 11, making it one of the very first automatic GMT chronographs ever produced.
The watch is housed in the classic 42mm brushed stainless steel "Autavia" case. It retains its sharp, muscular profile with the original sunburst finish on the lug tops and well-defined chamfers, a testament to its overall excellent condition.
Condition:
The example offered here dates from 1970s and is in overall excellent condition for its age. It is 100% original, no parts have been changed.
Dial: Flawless matte black dial with the signature "stepped" sub-dials. The original tritium hour markers have aged to a warm, consistent patina that perfectly matches the lume in the hands..
Case: The case retains it’s combination of brushed & polished surface with only some light surface scratches. The serial and model numbers are still visible. The plexiglass is scratch free.
Bezel: This Mark 1 features the correct, bi-directional rotating "Pepsi" (Blue/Red) with 1-24 numbering (Mark 1 specific). It has some light scratches as well some wear to the outer edge, but overall is in very good condition for its age and retains it's vibrant 'Pepsi' colour tones.
Dial: A flawless matte black dial with the signature "stepped" sub-dials. The original tritium hour markers have aged to a warm, consistent patina that perfectly matches the lume in the hands.
Hands: Features the iconic brushed steel handset with orange accents, including the high-visibility orange GMT hand. There is ageing noted to the paint/lume of GMT hand.

It is operating strongly on timegrapher, gaining approximately 11 seconds per day with an amplitude of 309.
