Presenting the Longines Ref. 8224-3, a remarkable fusion of chronograph prowess and dive watch expertise. Longines has long excelled in the realm of chronographs, and with the Ref. 8224-3, they masterfully combined their dive watch know-how (Nautilus Skin Diver ref. 6921 from the late 1950s). This timepiece embodies design elements popularized in the late 1960s and '70s, featuring a large cushion case and vibrant neon orange accents on the markers and chronograph hand.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the Longines Ref. 8224-3 showcases exquisite finishing. The gently sloping edges and the classic sunburst pattern on the top surface add to its allure. The heavy-duty mineral glass crystal protects the dial, while the interior rotating bezel minimizes external interference when engaging the chronograph function.
Designed for optimal legibility, the dial configuration boasts well-placed markers and thick lume-filled hands, ensuring enhanced visibility even in murky waters. It is worth noting the striking resemblance of the exotic-style sub-dial design to the renowned dial of the Rolex "Paul Newman" Daytona, adding an intriguing touch to this timepiece.
The movement bears the esteemed Longines stamp, although it effectively utilizes the renowned Valjoux 726 movement. With the Longines Ref. 8224-3, you'll experience the seamless harmony of chronograph excellence and dive watch functionality, encapsulated in a timepiece that captures the essence of a bygone era.
Condition:
The watch is in overall mint condition, free of any mark/blemishes with the signature sunburst finish on the top surface. The dial is perfect with no signs of ageing. The crowns, pushers, and hands appear to be original. The red markers and the sweeping seconds hand retain their lovely vibrant tone. The timepiece is perfectly complemented by a stunning, period-correct, vintage steel bracelet.
