1968 Omega Seamaster Soccer Timer 145.019

The late 1960s and early 1970s saw Omega pushing the boundaries of their "International Collection," creating purpose-built chronographs for increasingly niche professional applications. The "Soccer Timer" is perhaps the most distinctive result of this era, merging the robust architecture of the Seamaster line with a specialized timing complication designed specifically for the pitch. Created to track the 45-minute halves of a football match, its design is a testament to a time when horology was solving practical problems through bold, functional aesthetics.

The Omega Seamaster Soccer Timer remains one of the most distinctive and functional chronographs from Omega’s catalog from this perid. While many Seamasters of this era leaned into traditional diving or dress aesthetics, the Soccer Timer was purpose-built for utility, featuring a specialized 45-minute sub-dial indicator to track play.

This particular example features the lovely grey dial configuration, paired with an internal rotating bezel operated by the additional crown at 10 o'clock. This adds both functional versatility and a distinctly dynamic, technical look compared to its fixed-bezel counterparts.

Condition:

Overall the watch is in mint condition.  

The dial is in exceptional condition, maintaining a crisp, light gray finish that provides a high-contrast backdrop for the colorful "soccer" sub-registers.   The lume has also beautifully aged to an even, warm honey tone.

The case retains it correct combination of brushed & polished surfaces with no visible scratches. The case back engraving is clear and strong.  

The original plexiglass has some light nicks which are hardly visible. 

The Lemania-based, manual winding calibre 861, is the same legendary movement found in the "Moonwatch" Speedmasters of the era—renowned for its reliability and ease of service.  The movement has just been serviced by our watchmaker and is working very strongly for it's age with an amplitude of 310 and gaining around 6 seconds per day.
