The Omega Seamaster Ref. 145.006 is a true connoisseur’s chronograph. While the Speedmaster was conquering space, the Seamaster Ref. 145.006 was Omega’s sophisticated "water-resistant" alternative, offering the exact same legendary mechanical heart in a more versatile, gentlemanly silhouette.
This specific example, with its 1966 case stamp, hails from the golden era of Omega production, just before the brand transitioned to the Calibre 861.
The Reference 145.006 is defined by its robust, "C-Shape" tonneau case—a design language that would come to dominate the late 1960s and 1970s. Unlike the external tachymeter bezel of the Speedmaster, the 145.006 keeps its scales protected under the crystal, resulting in a cleaner, more streamlined aesthetic that transitions perfectly from a leather strap to a steel bracelet.
What makes this 1966 model truly significant is the Calibre 321 beating inside. This is the same copper-colored, column-wheel movement found in the "Ed White" and "pre-Moon" Speedmasters. For the collector, the 145.006 offers the chance to own one of the most important movements in horological history at a value that remains incredibly compelling compared to its Speedmaster siblings.
Unlike the Speedmaster’s Hippocampus, the Seamaster 145.006 features a deeply engraved, oversized Seahorse logo on the screw-down caseback, a hallmark of Omega's waterproof heritage from the 1960s.
Condition:
Overall, this watch is in very good condition for it's age. The case has no noticeable scratches and retains it delicate combination of lightly brushed and polished services. The caseback has a strongly engraved Seahorse logo.
The dial is generally clean with some very light ageing. All the markings are clear and undamaged. The original tritium lume is intact with only slight darkening, more so on the minute hand. The inner chapter ring (Tachmetre) is mostly clean aside from some slight darkening in the 10pm area.
The movement has been serviced by our Watchmaker and is running very strongly and accurately for its age. On the timegrapher it is runing +1 sec/day with amplitude of 344
The matching bracelet has been cleaned and polished and is in excellent condition.,
