Introduced in 1968, the Heuer Camaro took its name and spirit from the iconic Chevrolet pony car, capturing the racing enthusiasm of the late 1960s. Characterized by its distinct sunburst-finished cushion case, the Camaro combined aggressive automotive styling with refined horological geometry. Among the most sought-after variations of the lineup is the Reference 7220NT—a rare three-register chronograph powered by the legendary manual-wind Valjoux 72 movement.

This particular execution features the striking "NT" dial design, where both the main dial and matching sub-registers share a captivating charcoal tone with a subtle silver hue. The geometric interplay between the square cushion case, circular sub-dials, and charcoal-silver palette makes the 7220NT one of the most balanced and evocative chronographs of Heuer's golden era.  This is the second execution of this reference with slighly different hands and hour markers.

Collector’s Note

Single-owner provenance from Switzerland makes this Camaro a truly exceptional discovery. The case back bears two fascinating historical markers: the original owner's engraved name alongside the discreet "C" stamp with a 4 digit code.  The "C" marking indicates that after production, Heuer sold the watch to its official Swiss distributor, Cuanillon & Co. in Biel-Bienne. Retaining its crisp case geometry, pristine dial, and visible reference and serial numbers between the lugs, this piece stands out as a collector-grade example of a rare reference.

Condition:

Dial & Lume: The original dial and matching sub-dials are in pristine condition, featuring a gorgeous charcoal tone with a hint of silver throughout. The tritium luminous plots have aged evenly to a warm, desirable caramel color, matching the original hand set perfectly.

Case & Bezel: Exceptionally sharp cushion case retaining its factory lines, distinct sunburst graining on top, and polished side facets. Both the reference number (7220) and serial number remain clearly legible between the lugs. The case back retains crisp engravings, including the original owner's name and the historic Cuanillon & Co. "C" mark.

Crystal & Crown: High-clarity acrylic crystal free of major scratches or deep marks. The signed Heuer winding crown and fluted pushers function crisp and smoothly.

Bracelet / Strap: Fitted with a new matching leather strap designed to complement the charcoal dial tones, completed with a period-style signed Heuer buckle.

Movement & Timing: Powered by the three-register Valjoux 72 manual-wind chronograph movement. Fully overhauled by our in-house watchmaker, showing exceptional metrics on the timegrapher: running at 0 seconds per day with a strong 277° amplitude. Chronograph functions start, stop, and reset crisply to zero.
