The Rarest Version of the GMT

Available for sale is very rare Valjoux 72 powered version of the stunning Breitling GMT ref 812. From discussion with Breitling experts, a limited number of cases for this version were all batch manufactured in 1968 and it is estimated that less than 100 were ever assembled / sold. At its heart is the famous GMT version of the Valjoux 72, with a different minute wheel and an extra hour wheel for the 24 hour hand.
The case, dial and hands are original and it would appear to be untouched, original condition. The lume shows some ageing (darkening) on closer inspection on some of the hour markers. The inner rotating bezel has aged to lovely and consistent chocolate brown. The glass and case show some minor scratches commensurate with normal use. The engraving on the caseback is faint but still present; all numbers and markings are still legible.
The movement has been checked by our watchmaker and rear gasket changed. The watch keeps time accurately for its 50 year age and has a power reserve of over 40 hours.
