The Breitling Chronomat, with its now famous slide-rule scale, was released in 1941 and has been one of the longest running lines for the Swiss company ever since. The advent of the Chrono-Matic movement within the Chronomat happened during an interesting time in horological history, with companies around the world competing with one another to release the very first automatic chronograph movement.

This Breitling represents the perfect marriage between the iconic Chronomat and Navitimer design of the 1960s with the bolder architectural case design that became popular in the 1970s and the presence of caliber 11, one of the earliest automatic chronograph movements.

Condition:

This Chronomat is in overall excellent condition.  The dial is lovely with only a tiny blemish on the edge of the dial (at 6.28pm). The original tritium lume is still intact on the hands & hour markers with minimal patina. The external bezel itself is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear.  The case looks sharp and appears unpolished, with some lights surface scratches from general use.  The caseback engraving has been worn down over time (the engraving was shallow to begin with) but all serial and reference numbers are still visible.

The Cal.11 movement has been fully serviced.  From our in-house test it is only gaining 4 seconds per day with a healthy amplitude of 252.

The watch comes complete with our high quality, calf skin, “rally” strap.
