Historical Context & Significance
During the golden era of mid-century Swiss dive watches, Enicar stood at the forefront of technical innovation alongside the premier case manufacturer Ervin Piquarez S.A. (EPSA). Introduced in the mid-1960s, the Sherpa Super Divette 33 (Ref. 126/002) occupies a sweet spot in Enicar’s legendary dual-crown Super Compressor lineage—bridging the gap between the standard single-crown Divette and the oversized 40mm Super Dive.
This specific example bears serial 606XXX, placing its production in early 1964. Representing one of the very first production runs to feature Enicar's updated 3-digit reference code system (126/002), this piece retains early execution details—most notably the straight baton hands and red triangle bezel marker—that set early-batch Super Divettes apart from later mid-60s variations.
Design & Aesthetics
The 36mm stainless steel EPSA Super Compressor case features Enicar’s signature long, faceted-stepped lugs that give the watch a distinct, commanding wrist presence.
Dial: Deep matte black dial punctuated by applied, tritium hour indices with raised metal surrounds. The dial print features the applied Saturn logo, ENICAR, Sherpa, Super DIVETTE, and the prominent 33 script denoting the high-jewel movement variant. A date window sits at 3 o'clock.
Handset: Early-execution straight baton hands with tritium luminescent inserts, paired with a central sweep seconds hand.
Internal Rotating Bezel: Bi-directional internal dive scale operated via the upper crown
Crowns: Fitted with dual original 6.2mm cross-hatch crowns bearing the stamped Enicar Saturn logo.
CONDITION:
Case: Unpolished & excellent vintage condition for the age. Long, faceted lug geometry remains sharp and well-defined with natural signs of wear & light surface scratches consistent with age. Bayonet case back markings and EPSA ocean logo remain clearly legible.
Dial & Hands: Factory original, unrestored dial in remarkable condition. Lume markers display a warm, uniform caramel patina matching the original baton hands. There is some patina on the metal hands.
Movement & Mechanics: The internal bezel mechanism rotates smoothly without slipping. Both cross-hatch Saturn crowns operate as intended for winding, setting, and bezel alignment. The movement is clean, running well, and maintaining strong power reserve. On the timegrapher its gaining around 18 seconds per day with an amplitude of 258°.
